The Chilean World Cup Advert That Gives Me The Chills
It’s not often that an advert makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up, but this one certainly does. It’s for the Soccer World Cup, which of course is being held in Brazil fairly soon.
Four years ago, just after South Africa had blown the final whistle on our own hosting of the 2010 World Cup, a terrible event happened that gripped the globe. A group of Chilean miners were trapped in a terrible accident that played out on our television screens, in the press and online over a period of seventy days. As the months dragged on and the world hoped and prayed that the miners would be rescued alive, everyone who followed the news became involved in their story.
How remarkable it is then to see these miners return in a bold, heart-felt television commercial which promotes the courage of the miners and supports the Chilean national soccer team. This emotional advert was created for Banco Central de Chile [The Central Bank of Chile] – a sponsor of the 2014 Fifa World Cup Brazil.

It is not long to go before the beautiful game is with us again – soccer world cup fever comes into full force on 12 June 2014 when the first match – Brazil versus Croatia – kicks off in São Paulo.
