Will the US “Coca-Colonize” Cuba?
Big news of the week is that the US, through diplomatic efforts of Pres. Barack Obama, has restored ties with Cuba, and is setting up an embassy there for the first time since the Cold War — that’s 50 years of hostility.
According to Business Insider, Cuba is one of only two countries worldwide that doesn’t sell Coca-Cola, the other being North Korea. Other brands, from McDonalds to Starbucks will be looking to set up shop as tourism may go through a boom. And Cuba can at last legally export cigars and rum to the mainland.
