SA Banking on Buhari
According to Financial Mail, SA President Jacob Zuma’s government is hoping that Nigeria’s new president, Muhammadu Buhari, will offer an opportunity to usher in an era of warmer, more collaborative relations when he comes to power.
It will require a lot of persuading, given SA’s negative image on the continent as a xenophobic nation. And Nigeria’s 72-year old retired general and former military head of state will have the world lining up to be on his dance card, so Zuma’s going to have to show some fancy footwork to woo the leader of Africa’s wealthiest nation.
Collaboration in trade would be a good thing for both countries and the rest of the continent; we know there are tons of opportunities waiting to open up.
