But Sometimes Say “Yes”
Yesterday I linked to Adam Grant’s post about finding ways to say “No”. But of course there is a flip-side. Sometimes it’s good to say yes — in fact, it’s essential, according to Arianna Huffington. In her book ‘Thrive’, Huffington argues that focussing only on profits and power leaves us sitting on a two-legged stool, which will tip over if we don’t add a third leg. And that leg is helping others. Or human kindness. Or (dare we say it?) ubuntu.
Grant explains why we as a social species need to help others — for our own sake — with the caveat that we need to figure out how to do it without burning out. Read his compelling argument here.
