Can We Learn From the Past?

Every week I select an ad from the current crop to be featured as my ‘Ad of the Week’ on, Africa’s foremost site for marketers, about advertising and marketing.

This week I chose a powerful and thought-provoking print campaign from OpenCo for the Apartheid Museum. There is a saying that goes something along the lines of ‘Those who cannot learn from history will be doomed to repeat it,’ and this campaign draws parallels between the apartheid era and today. Much has changed, yes, but there are still disturbing similarities when it comes to the disenfranchisement of the poor.
