And while I can think of at least one exception, there’s a lot to be said for the motivating power of someone who can make people feel special. Madiba had this skill: whenever he walked into a room, he would greet everyone and ask their name; he always came across as humble, even when describing his achievements, and he always listened with care. Like all great leaders, he had ‘the common touch’.
