US Gets Chesa Nyama
Denizens of Nashville, Tennessee, will get to taste the best of South African braai culture, courtesy of Chesa Nyama. That may seem like taking braai to the land of the … well, the barbecue, but then again, Steer’s was just an American barbecue brought to the land of the braai!
The US venture, which will begin with one pilot store, will be 30% owned by South African Chesa Nyama brand-owners, Gold Brands, with 30% being held by US-based The White Family Partnership, and the remaining 40% owned by Red Hornbill, a South African industrial holdings company. The first store will be a sit-down restaurant venue.
It’s not clear yet whether the menu will include pap and sauce — it would be interesting to see how Americans take to the truly traditional taste!
